Be Thou An Example

I have heard of saints and prophets since I was young.
Till death they did triumph in what they have done.
They acted with great courage, withstood every test.
In faith they rest, angels of men, awake desire to be like them.


Did following Christ become their desire
Through strict obedience or a refiner’s fire?
What did they give up to serve Him, their wealth, their time, their lives?
Were these offerings a sacrifice or giving of their souls to Christ?

Be thou an example, like so many others who’ve gone before,
In word, conversation, in charity in spirit, in faith, in purity,
to become what He wants me to be.

As I ponder on these questions, I know why they did their part.
As my testimony strengthens, I know what’s in my heart.
I choose this day to serve Him, in faith, in deed, in word.
I don’t know what of me He’ll require, but I give my life, my desire!

to become what He wants me to be.

would strengthen so many generations, generations!

I am a Stripling Warrior

Two thousand stripling warriors, strong and brave and true
Had faith that would not waver because their mothers knew.
Though young they trusted fully. They stood for what was right.
My mother tells this story and I trust with all my might.

Chorus:
I am a stripling warrior. I hold the shield of faith
That comes from my own mother. It will guide me all my days.
She armed me with the sword of truth and hope in God above.
I will follow her example to trust in our Father's love.

She prays to Heav'nly Father with a faith so pure.
I know I can not doubt Him because my mother's sure.
The stirring in my heart proves that I have learned the truth:
